PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kryten Mechanoid (ranked 855 p4p, 673 weight class) and Bolle Gijs (ranked 101 p4p, 75 weight class). Mechanoid comes to the cage accompanied by It's Cold Outside. The crowd seem to be enjoying Gijs's choice of entrance music: Holle bolle Gijs. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kryten Mechanoid!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bolle Gijs!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Bruno Lombardi and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Mechanoid closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Gijs quickly recovers to half guard.
Mechanoid wants to control but Gijs is keeping him busy.
Gijs has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Gijs is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Mechanoid's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Mechanoid's back!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Mechanoid closes the distance and clinches up with Gijs, looking for a takedown. Mechanoid pushes Gijs against the cage but Gijs circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Mechanoid shoots in and drives through. Gijs sprawls well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mechanoid doesn't succeed with the takedown

That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Mechanoid tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Gijs swivels and escapes.
