Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Phoenix Peterson (ranked 1476 p4p, 1375 weight class) and Caio Carvalho (ranked 207 p4p, 191 weight class). Peterson comes to the cage accompanied by Bulls On Parade- Rage Against the Machine. Carvalho has chosen Pentagono - É o Moio as his entrance music. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Phoenix Peterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Caio Carvalho!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Saam Ante and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peterson throws a jab when Carvalho was well out of range.
Peterson misses with a looping left.
Carvalho changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

and Carvalho counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Peterson!

My spies in Marquis Training Center inform me that Carvalho has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Carvalho wants to pass the guard but Peterson is defending well.
Peterson wants to improve his position but Carvalho is controlling well.

Carvalho is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Peterson has managed to free his arm - good work.
Carvalho is keen to just control but Peterson is a slippery customer.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Peterson has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Carvalho off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Peterson comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Carvalho has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Peterson uses from the top position.

That was a close second round but I would say that Phoenix Peterson will probably get the nod.

Carvalho has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Peterson doesn't defend quickly enough and Carvalho has managed to lock this one up! Can Peterson escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Carvalho on a fantastic submission victory.
