PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Henk Timmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and William Head (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Henk Timmer has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Henk Timmer seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Henk Timmer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, William Head!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Daniel Blasius and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Timmer throws out a powerful jab.

Head drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Timmer prevents Head from moving into mount.

Head looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Timmer tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Head wants to control but Timmer is keeping him busy.
Timmer is trying to escape the position but Head is controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Timmer tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Head easily slips into full mount!
Timmer wants to hold on but Head pushes him away.
Timmer is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Head has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Timmer's face.

Head unloading with bombs!
Timmer is working to get back to half guard.
Head trying to control but Timmer is having none of it.
Timmer is looking to improve his position but Head isn't that keen on the idea.
Timmer is squirming around, avoiding Head's attempts to control the action.

Head is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Timmer has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Timmer!
Timmer connects with a couple of short punches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Head is trying to keep Timmer in close.
Head is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Head seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Timmer wants to pass the guard but Head is keeping the position.
Head is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Head drops an elbow to the side of Timmer's head.
Head trying to control from half guard but Timmer is working away.

Timmer tries to roll over but Head keeps him under control.
Timmer is not content to let Head control the position.
Timmer wants to control but Head is keeping busy.
Timmer manages to get to full guard.
Head not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Head's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Head is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Head scoring with some ground and pound.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Timmer is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Head missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Timmer tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Head wants to control from the top but Timmer keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Timmer with a poor takedown

and Head counters with a takedown into side control.
Timmer is looking for a sweep.
Head tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Timmer is looking to regain half guard here but Head keeps moving and retains side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

William Head dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


A swing and a miss from Timmer.

Head moves into range and clinches up with Timmer.
Timmer tries for a takedown but Head manages to get underhooks.
Head wants a takedown.
Timmer fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Timmer has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Head avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Henk Timmer. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Head has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Timmer clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Head is punishing Timmer with strikes - can he finish him?!
Timmer trying to control but not successfully.
Head trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Timmer doesn't escape.
Let's hope that Head has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Will Head go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Head lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Timmer trying to control but not successfully.
Head controls the position.
Timmer trying to control the hands but Head breaks the grip.

Head looking for the choke from the back.
Timmer is trying to break free.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Timmer trying to control but not successfully.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Head controlling the positon.
Head controlling well, preventing Timmer from escaping the position.
Timmer looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Head has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Timmer's body.
Timmer manages to reverse the position and now he's in Head's guard. Nice work there by Timmer.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Timmer being controlled here momentarily.
Timmer stands up over Head, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Timmer postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Head is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Timmer, into his guard.
Head controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Timmer tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Timmer tries to strike from the bottom.

Head gets to his feet. Timmer looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Henk Timmer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Timmer misses with a hook to the body

and Head counters with a nice double leg into side control. Timmer won't be happy with that.
Head lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Timmer down.

Head has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Timmer misses the body punch

and Head decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Timmer's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Timmer is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Head keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Timmer thows a huge punch but Head dodges it nicely.
Timmer throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

William Head showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Head scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Timmer is looking for a sweep. Head is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Timmer desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Head controlling the action here.
William Head has got the better of the ground game so far.

Timmer is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Head pulls his head out easily.
Timmer slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Head trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Timmer manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Head manages to get himself to full guard.

Head lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Timmer!
Timmer keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Head can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Timmer is looking to escape.
The referee warns Timmer that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Head punishing his opponent with strikes.
A nice elbow there by Head.
Head takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Head pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Head landing strikes, looking to finish!
Timmer is trying desperately to improve position.
Timmer is bucking up trying to escape but Head cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Head looking to control but Timmer is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Head sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Head lands with some strikes.
Timmer is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Timmer is looking to get to half guard.
Timmer tries to control Head's body but Head pushes him off. Timmer squirms to his side and now Head has his back!
Timmer is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Will Head go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Timmer rolls, trying to escape but Head keeps control of the position.
Head is riding his opponent, not letting Timmer buck him off.
Timmer tries to break free.
Head doesn't have the hooks in and Timmer manages to turn into his guard.
Timmer looking to sit in guard and control but Head gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Head looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Timmer is fending him off so far but Head persists. Nope, Timmer circles away and we're back to standing.

Head takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Timmer sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Timmer tries to get to full guard but Head has control of the leg.
Timmer moves into full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
William Head comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Head winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
