PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Cormier (ranked 24486 p4p, 23684 weight class) and Un Kha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cormier comes to the cage accompanied by Right above it lilWayne. Kha has chosen Eye of the tiger as his entrance music. Un Kha will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Daniel Cormier!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 49 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Un Kha!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Dean Styles and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kha misses with a body shot.
Cormier definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Daniel Cormier seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Cormier clinches up with Kha and pushes him back against the cage.
Cormier is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Kha gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Cormier is trying to trip Kha. He has hold of a leg but Kha is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Cormier persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Cormier controlling from the top position.
Cormier postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Cormier controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Cormier might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Cormier is looking to work some ground and pound but Kha has wrist control.
Cormier engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cormier connects with a couple of short punches.
Cormier is working Kha over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Cormier throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kha works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cormier stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kha swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Cormier has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Cormier cracks Kha with a solid left hand.
Kha looking for a sweep. Not yet Kha, not yet.
Cormier slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Cormier wants to pass the guard but Kha is keeping the position.
Cormier keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Kha's head.
Cormier postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Cormier is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Cormier is in close to Kha's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Kha really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cormier. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Cormier's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Cormier's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.


Cormier bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Cormier lands a few punches from side control.
Cormier is working Kha over with some ground and pound from side control.
Check out the look on Cormier's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Kha is rocked!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cormier lands a strong strike to the head of Kha. That's dazed him! Cormier looking to finish here. Kha is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Cormier lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Daniel Cormier!
As Daniel Cormier got his breath back, he grabbed the microphone and managed to blurt out the following: I’m all about that cake and chicken'.
Un Kha was interviewed post fight and said 'i'll be back!'.
