PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Hardman (ranked 1201 p4p, 1623 weight class) and Daniel Dux (ranked 120 p4p, 164 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Daniel Dux was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bruce Hardman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Daniel Dux!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Paul Tew and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hardman ducks under a wild hook from Dux.
Dux lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

It looks like Bruce Hardman has been cut.
Hardman looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Dux throws a nice looking combination but Hardman bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Dux takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Donk. Dux catches Hardman right on the button with a cross.
Hardman displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Dux throws out the jab.
The crowd cheers as Dux lands an impressive looking overhand right. Hardman doesn't seem phased though.
Dux defending well as Hardman loads up on a big left hand.
Dux misses with a looping right.
Hardman has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Dux finds it's way round the side to connect with Hardman's head.
Dux takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hardman punishes Dux's body with a nice straight punch.

Hardman leaves Dux with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Hardman tries to counter with a takedown but Dux is quick to defend against it.

Dux throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Dux tries to bum rush Hardman with a series of wild strikes but Hardman uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Good shot there by Dux.
Dux misses with a straight right.
Hardman on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Hardman manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Dux on his heels. He'll look to pass Dux's guard now, I'm sure.

Dux is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Dux moves into full mount! Hardman won't be happy about that!
Dux avoids the attempt from Hardman to control.
Hardman is trying desperately to improve position.
Hardman tries to hold on but Dux pushes him away.
Dux trying to control but he's not successful this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hardman really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Dux is working for a guillotine from mount but Hardman frees his head quite easily.
Hardman blocking the ground and pound.
Hardman manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Hardman is looking to control Dux's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hardman avoid being mounted?

Dux is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Hardman sees it coming and defends easily.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Nice takedown defense from Hardman. No joy for Dux on that attempt.
Hardman dives in for a single leg takedown but Dux sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Dux pulls guard successfully.

Dux bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hardman's guard.


Hardman has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dux can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Hardman is trying to hold Dux in close to prevent damage but Dux has managed to pass into half guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hardman is trying to get back to full guard.
Hardman is trying to maintain the position but Dux is very close to passing his half guard.

Hardman tries to roll over but Dux keeps him under control.
Hardman manages to get to full guard.
Dux trying to control the position from guard on top but Hardman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Hardman is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Dux is aware though and is defending well.
Daniel Dux has got the better of the ground game so far.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hardman holds on and takes a little breather.

Dux trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Hardman had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Dux defends it easily.

Hardman has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Dux should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Hardman has tightened it up now! Dux should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Bruce Hardman!
