Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eric Rogers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rashad Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Evans has chosen Pursuit of Happiness as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eric Rogers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rashad Evans!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Stewart Dunkirk and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rogers throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Rogers looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Evans closes the distance and clinches.
Rogers gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Evans.

Rogers's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Evans shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Evans seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rogers does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Rogers tries to kick Evans off but Evans keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Evans seems to be working for a kimura but Rogers defends the submission attempt.
Evans scoring with strikes to the body and head.

Evans stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Rogers to get to his feet.
Eric Rogers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rogers shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Evans counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Evans can't break the clinch.
Evans blocks an elbow strike from Rogers.

Evans manages to pull guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Evans holds on and takes a little breather.

Evans pushes Rogers off and gets back to his feet.
Rogers takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Evans gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Evans should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Evans drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Rogers gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Evans wants to get back to striking at distance but Rogers won't allow it.

Evans stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Evans breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Both fighters circling a little - Rogers finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Evans is looking to chop away at Rogers's legs.

Evans closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Evans lands in his opponent's guard.

Evans decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
A lazy left from Evans finds it's target.

Evans throws a nice inside leg kick.
Rogers tries a head kick but it misses.

Evans closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Evans lands in his opponent's guard.
Evans scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Evans throws a strike but Rogers rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Rogers is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Evans trying to keep a closed guard but Rogers is proving a slippery customer.
Evans utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Rogers is looking to advance position but Evans has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Rogers doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Evans counters with a single leg into guard. Rogers didn't expect that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Evans stands up and waves to Rogers to follow him.
Evans lands a jab-cross combination.

Evans bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Rogers is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Evans decides to stand up, so the ref orders Rogers to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Evans feints and as Rogers raises his hands in defense, Evans changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Rogers throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Rogers is adopting a defensive guard.
Evans stands up over Rogers, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Evans prevents Rogers from getting back to his feet.
Rogers is trying to control the position but Evans postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Evans circles away from the clinch attempt

and Evans counters by moving into the clinch.
Rogers is working Evans over against the cage.
Rogers throws an elbow that misses.
Evans is trying to break free.
Evans goes for a takedown in the clinch but Rogers prevents it.
Rogers is pressed up against the cage. Evans has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Rogers down to the mat. Rogers avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Rogers changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Evans fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Evans is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Rogers gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Rogers is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Evans is keeping busy.

Rogers shoots and misses
and Evans counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Evans looks to score with a jab to the body but Rogers is just out of range.

Evans feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Rogers tries to score with some ground and pound. Evans controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Evans sneaks out the side door and pushes Rogers away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Evans wants to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rashad Evans showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Evans shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Evans was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Rogers tries to lock up and control but Evans gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Evans postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Rogers looks a forlorn figure.

Rogers works his way to full guard. Good work.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rogers bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Evans's guard.
Eric Rogers has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Rashad Evans is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well Evans has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
