PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Chris Wilson (ranked 3097 p4p, 3682 weight class) and Bartlomiej Jan (ranked 206 p4p, 234 weight class). Wilson kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Final Countdown. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Wilson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 28 - 0, fighting out of London, Bartlomiej Jan!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paulsen Ambrosius and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Jan tightens his grip and picks Wilson up, before dumping him to the ground. Wilson manages to land in guard.
Jan engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Jan pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Wilson is keeping the position for now.
Jan seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
It looks like Jan might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Wilson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Jan manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Wilson has Jan in his guard.

Wilson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jan on the ground.

Wilson seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Jan is in close to Wilson's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Jan wants to pass the guard but Wilson is keeping the position.

Let's hope that Jan has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Jan postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Wilson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Jan, into his guard.

Jan has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Jan is nestled in close to Wilson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Jan looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Wilson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Bartlomiej Jan has got the better of the ground game so far.

Jan wants to work for an arm triangle but Wilson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Wilson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jan is working away from the top position though.

Jan has hold of Wilson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Wilson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Wilson is bucking up trying to escape but Jan cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Oh Wilson is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Jan.
Wilson seems to have got his legs back now.
Wilson is trying to control Jan's posture but Jan avoids it.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Jan is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Wilson's shoulder. That is not cool.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Jan working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
Jan looks up at the clock and then as Wilson takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Jan smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Jan has hold of Wilson's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Wilson tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Jan cranks the arm and Wilson screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Wilson, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
