PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Chame Boxing Champ (ranked 918 p4p, 711 weight class) and Dumbledore Calrissian (ranked 116 p4p, 89 weight class). Dumbledore Calrissian told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 40 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chame Boxing Champ!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dumbledore Calrissian!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Nard Betker and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Calrissian shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Boxing Champ's guard.
Calrissian with a flurry of punches that miss.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boxing Champ wants to stand and escape but Calrissian is having none of it.
Calrissian throws a strike but Boxing Champ rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Boxing Champ is looking to work some ground and pound but Calrissian has wrist control.
Boxing Champ trying to control the position from guard on top but Calrissian is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Calrissian tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Boxing Champ missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Calrissian trying to keep a closed guard but Boxing Champ is proving a slippery customer.
Boxing Champ tries to free his leg and advance position but Calrissian is retaining full guard.

Calrissian has his feet on Boxing Champ's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Calrissian keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Dumbledore Calrissian seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Boxing Champ tries to clinch up but Calrissian circles away and keeps his distance.

Calrissian tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Boxing Champ takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Boxing Champ takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Boxing Champ misses the jab.
Boxing Champ looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Calrissian shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Boxing Champ regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Calrissian.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Calrissian cracks Boxing Champ with a solid left hand.
Calrissian trying to control the position from guard on top but Boxing Champ is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Calrissian scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Calrissian looking to sit in guard and control but Boxing Champ gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Calrissian tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Calrissian keeping moving, preventing Boxing Champ from controlling successfully.
Boxing Champ throwing strikes but missing.
Boxing Champ's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Boxing Champ wants to pass the guard but Calrissian is keeping the position.
Calrissian wants to stand up but Boxing Champ is controlling him.
Calrissian tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Calrissian has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Boxing Champ accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Calrissian tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Calrissian scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Calrissian shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Boxing Champ napping and manages to drive through into side control!

The strikes coming from Calrissian are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Calrissian creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Calrissian scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Boxing Champ to see if he's OK.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Dumbledore Calrissian dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!

Calrissian is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Boxing Champ.
Calrissian looks to land a right hand but Boxing Champ moved out of range.
Boxing Champ fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Boxing Champ misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Calrissian manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Boxing Champ on his heels. He'll look to pass Boxing Champ's guard now, I'm sure.
Calrissian keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Boxing Champ's head.
Calrissian distracts Boxing Champ with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Calrissian missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Calrissian prevents Boxing Champ from getting back to his feet.
Calrissian working some strikes from top position.

Boxing Champ is rocked!
Calrissian loads up on a big left hand. Boxing Champ felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Calrissian looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Boxing Champ can't hide his disappointment, as Calrissian celebrates the victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dumbledore Calrissian!
