Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pablo West (ranked 4468 p4p, 4048 weight class) and Chilblen Winston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Winston misses with a wild combination.

Winston darts in and clinches West up against the cage.
West tries to pull guard but Winston holds him up against the cage and eventually West drops back down to his feet.

West pulls guard.
Winston wants to control from the top but West keeps moving.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

West pushes Winston off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Winston looks to land a combination. West sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Winston shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as West sprawls well. West wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Winston gets slowly back to his feet.

West closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Winston manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. West keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Winston has gone for a leg lock! West slips out almost immediately though and dives into Winston's guard.

Winston is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Winston shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as West sprawls well. West wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Winston gets slowly back to his feet.
West looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.

West drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
West is breathing heavily.
Winston is looking for a takedown up against the cage. West gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
West jumps guard but Winston stands there with West around his waist. West gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Winston tries to stall but West uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Winston is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

West has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Winston can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Winston decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on West, up you get!

Winston jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as West walks away with a smile on his face. Winston gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Chilblen Winston showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

West knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Winston on the ground.

Winston is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. West knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften West for a finish.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
What can West do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Let's hope that Winston has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Winston. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Well Winston has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
