PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dawindi Buktot (ranked 23749 p4p, 23710 weight class) and Walay Buut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Walay Buut was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 45 - 62 - 5, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dawindi Buktot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 60 - 49 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Walay Buut!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Gwen Towbar and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Buktot gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Buut looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Buut postures up.
Buktot pulls Buut in close to prevent any damage.
Buut is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Buut leaves Buktot with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
And Buut responds with a good body kick, but Buktot manages to step out the way in time.
Buktot shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Buut pinned against the cage. Buut gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Buktot fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Buut avoids it really well and circles away.
Buut raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dawindi Buktot. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Buut shoots in and drives through. Buktot sprawls well.

Buut feints and as Buktot raises his hands in defense, Buut changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Buut bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Buktot is trying to escape the position but Buut is controlling the position.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Buut looks for a takedown but Buktot sprawls well.
Buktot swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Buktot stuffs the takedown.
Buktot throws a quick counter kick to the body but Buut avoids it.
Buktot shoots in for a double leg but Buut sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Buktot looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Buut is fending him off so far but Buktot persists. Nope, Buut circles away and we're back to standing.
Buut replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Buktot blocks it well.
Buktot changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Buut tries to avoid it but Buktot manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Buut to the ground. Buut escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Buut shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Buktot is trying to defend but Buut finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Buut looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Let's hope that Buut has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Buut is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Walay Buut showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Buktot's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Buut wants to control but Buktot is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Walay Buut has got the better of the ground game so far.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Buut shoots in for a takedown but Buktot shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Buut closes this distance looking for a takedown but Buktot circles away.
And Buktot counters with a quick kick to the body but Buut blocks it.
Dawindi Buktot has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Walay Buut.

Buktot jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Buut dives in and grabs Buktot's left leg, looking for a takedown. Buktot pushes down on Buut's head and hops out.
Buktot thinks about countering with a body kick.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Buut shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Buut goes for a double leg but Buktot avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Buktot continues to drive forward.
Buut takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Buktot dives in and grabs Buut's left leg, looking for a takedown. Buut pushes down on Buktot's head and hops out.
Despite the aggression on Buut's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Buut tries to score a power double leg takedown but Buktot sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Buut somewhat.
Buktot jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Dawindi Buktot has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Walay Buut is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Buktot throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

And that's the end of the fight!

I think Buut has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
