PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Higanti Libat (ranked 23418 p4p, 23682 weight class) and Way Nada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 42 - 64 - 6, fighting out of Las Vegas, Higanti Libat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 54 - 56 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Way Nada!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Libat misses with a takedown
and Nada counters with a body kick that stops Libat in his tracks momentarily.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Libat.
Nada can't do much from the bottom here.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Libat content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Nada is holding Libat down, trying to stall.
Libat controlling the position from side mount.
You can see the frustration on Nada's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Nada shoots and misses
and Libat counters with a two punch combo.
Libat tries to land a body kick

and Nada counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Libat is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Nada is controlling him.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Libat is pulling down on Nada's head to control his posture.
Nada prevents Libat from getting back to his feet.
Libat has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Nada's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Libat working a defensive guard but Nada manages to pass into side control anyway.

Nada wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Libat, who protects the arm well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Way Nada dominated that round.
That's time! Libat's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Nada looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Libat is fending him off so far but Nada persists. Nope, Libat circles away and we're back to standing.

Libat fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Nada to the ground. Libat is now in Nada's guard.
Way Nada has got the better of the ground game so far.
Nada wants to sweep but no luck.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Libat seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Nada trying to keep a closed guard but Libat is proving a slippery customer.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nada is trying to control the position but Libat postures up.
Nada pulls Libat in close to his closed guard and prevents Libat from doing any damage or advancing position.
Libat controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Libat fails to land the takedown.
A countering left hand to the body from Nada misses.
Libat displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Nada.
Libat is looking to counter with a body kick.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Libat.

Libat wants to control but Nada is keeping him busy.
Libat working away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Both fighters take a look at the clock.
Libat is looking to take a break and control but Nada is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Higanti Libat dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Nada shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Libat is trying to defend but Nada finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Nada is trying to control the action in half guard but Libat is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Libat is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nada thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Nada looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Libat wants to get back to full guard.
Nada is thwarting Libat's attempts to control the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Libat.
Nada replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Libat blocks it well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Nice body kick there by Nada.
Nada shoots for a double leg takedown but Libat sprawls well. He's pushed Nada's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Libat stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Libat wants it to stay on the feet.
Nada misses with a low kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nada looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Libat quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
Higanti Libat has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Way Nada.

Libat fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Nada to the ground. Libat is now in Nada's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nada is pulling down on Libat's head to control his posture.
Libat slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Higanti Libat.
Well Libat has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
