Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Elliot Mendoza (ranked 4890 p4p, 5113 weight class) and Anderson Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 468 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Elliot Mendoza!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Anderson Silva!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Steven Brown and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva scores with a takedown into Mendoza's guard.
Silva is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Silva stands and steps away. Mendoza gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Silva tries to move into range but Mendoza moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Silva closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Silva shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Silva was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Silva is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mendoza knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Mendoza is looking for a triangle but Silva pushes his legs off easily.
Silva stands up from Mendoza's guard - Silva perhaps looking for a knockout.
Mendoza scores with a decent looking hook.
Silva ducks right into an uppercut from Mendoza.
The crowd cheers as Mendoza lands an impressive looking overhand right. Silva doesn't seem phased though.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Silva felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Silva is stalling here. Mendoza is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Silva seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Mendoza has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Anderson Silva showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!
Mendoza looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Mendoza throws a body punch but Silva moves out of range.
Silva throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mendoza was covering up waiting for the punch and Silva finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Mendoza has his foot on Silva's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Silva works his way back into a safe position though.

Mendoza leaves Silva with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Silva takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Mendoza drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Silva manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Mendoza has Silva in his guard.

Mendoza is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Silva can do to turn this around?
Silva sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Mendoza doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Silva paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Mendoza - great work!
