Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 35 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sparky Anderson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Junior Junior!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Donk. Junior catches Anderson right on the button with a cross.
Anderson lands a nice shot that snaps Junior's head back.
Junior jabs Anderson to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Junior ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Anderson gets a clinch.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Junior misses with a hook from the clinch.
Anderson blocking some punches.
A head punch on the inside from Junior fails to land.
Junior swings wildly with an uppercut but Anderson uses good head movement to avoid it.
Junior fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Anderson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A looping hook to the body misses from Junior. Anderson does a little dance to reset his feet.
Junior misses with a wild body shot.
Good exchange - Junior coming out on top.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Junior throws a leg kick that is checked
and Anderson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Anderson closes the distance and pushes Junior back into the cage.
Anderson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Anderson feints a jab promting Junior to slip. Anderson then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Junior slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
It looks like Junior Junior has been cut.
Anderson connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Junior throws a leg kick
and Anderson counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Junior thinking.
Anderson walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Junior drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Anderson swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Junior's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sparky Anderson!
Sparky Anderson is the new light heavyweight champion!
Post fight, an emotional Sparky Anderson said 'It's great to be the new champion, thanks to all my team around me'.
