Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Andy Perkasa (ranked 2913 p4p, 2589 weight class) and Yoshihiro Akiyama (ranked 365 p4p, 330 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Andy Perkasa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yoshihiro Akiyama!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Steven Brown and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Akiyama shoots in and gets a takedown into Perkasa's guard.
Akiyama controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Perkasa looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Akiyama passes into side control.

We've been hearing that Perkasa has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Perkasa is really struggling to control Akiyama but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Akiyama has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Akiyama fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Perkasa on the side of the head.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Perkasa takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Akiyama gets the takedown into side control.
Perkasa sneaks back into half guard.

Akiyama is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Perkasa defends it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Akiyama is nestled in close to Perkasa, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Perkasa is defending against the submission attempts here by Akiyama.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Akiyama content to control rather than advance.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Akiyama.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Perkasa is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Akiyama has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Perkasa is fighting off a takedown attempt but Akiyama is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Perkasa to the mat. Perkasa regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Perkasa escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Akiyama gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Akiyama wants to control from the top but Perkasa keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Perkasa is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Akiyama is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Perkasa sees it coming and defends easily.

Akiyama has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Perkasa's face.

Akiyama has hold of Perkasa's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Perkasa manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Perkasa bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Akiyama is looking for a triangle but Perkasa pushes his legs off easily.

Akiyama has his foot on Perkasa's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Perkasa works his way back into a safe position though.

Perkasa has gone for a leg lock! Akiyama slips out almost immediately though and dives into Perkasa's guard.

Akiyama is pushing down on Perkasa's leg trying to pass to half guard. Perkasa is fighting to maintain full guard but Akiyama has managed to sneak the leg through.

Akiyama is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Perkasa is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Yoshihiro Akiyama!
