Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marco Dimitri!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fabio Melo!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Vladimir Khabensky and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Melo shoots for a double leg takedown but Dimitri sprawls well. He's pushed Melo's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Melo tries to clinch but Dimitri moves away
and Dimitri counters with a straight right hand.
Melo doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Dimitri counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Dimitri misses with a hook. Melo ducked under it nicely.
Melo throws a head kick that misses.
Melo misses with a takedown attempt
and Dimitri counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Melo is rocked!
It looks like Fabio Melo has been cut.
Marco Dimitri has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fabio Melo.
Dimitri drops a shoulder and throws a monster hook that connects perfectly to the side of Melo's head, knocking him out cold! Dimitri is extatic as he celebrates with his cornermen.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Marco Dimitri!
Marco Dimitri decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
