Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Max Grip (ranked 4649 p4p, 4053 weight class) and Junior King (ranked 445 p4p, 0 weight class). Junior King has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Max Grip!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Junior King!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Paul Tew and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King throws a body shot but no joy.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from King.
King fails with a takedown attempt.

Grip shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Grip trying to control the action but King is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
King is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
King is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Grip jumps into side control!
King manages to work his way to half guard, despite Grip's best efforts.
Grip winds up and cracks King with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
King is staying active underneath Grip, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Grip blocks the strikes from King.
King wants to improve his position but Grip is controlling well.
Grip trying to control the action but King is working from the bottom.
King really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Grip. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
King has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Grip is working away from the top position though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Grip wants to control but King is keeping him busy.
King looks like he's trying to stand up.
Grip is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Grip looking to control and managing it successfully.
King tries to lock up and control but Grip gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Grip is working for a guillotine from mount but King frees his head quite easily.
Grip is breathing heavily.
Grip wants to control the pace but King is squirming around nicely.
Grip throwing strikes here but King is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
King tries to lock up and control but Grip gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
King is trying to stand up.
Grip takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
King is working to get back to half guard.
Grip sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
King wants to control but Grip is having none of it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Max Grip dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!

Grip takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

It looks like Max Grip has been cut.
Grip tries to clinch up.
King tries to counter by closing the distance.
King scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

King drives through with a takedown into guard.
King throws a strike but Grip rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Grip got a little sloppy there for a moment and King has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Grip has managed to get both his arms back between King's legs - danger averted.

King looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Grip advances position into side control!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Grip controlling the position.
King is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Grip is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. King doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Grip.
King won't allow Grip to pass to mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Grip wants to control but King is keeping him busy.
King is trying to stand back up but Grip is controlling him
King trying to hold on to Grip's head to control him but Grip postures up.
Grip lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
King won't allow Grip to pass to mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
King is trying to get back to full guard.
Grip trying to control the pace.
King pushes Grip off looking to stand but Grip dives back in and keeps control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Grip throws a big shot that misses.
Grip fails in his attempt to clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
King circles away from the clinch attempt.
King works over Grip's head and body with a nice combination.
Grip slips under a jab.
King is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
It appears Grip was looking to counter with a kick there.
King fails in his attempt to clinch.
Grip shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as King sprawls well. King wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Grip gets slowly back to his feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

King shoots in and bounces Grip off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Junior King showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Max Grip's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Grip shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in King's guard.
King wants to get back to his feet but Grip passes into half guard.

Grip is nestled in close to King, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
King blocking the ground and pound attempt from Grip.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Grip missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Grip is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
King has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Grip is working away from the top position though.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
King is looking to escape.
Grip is thwarting King's attempts to control the position.
King wants to get back to full guard but Grip has mounted him!
Grip manages to capitalize on a mistake by King to take his back!
King is trying to get back to his feet but Grip has full control of the position and if anything, King has just worked his way into a worse spot.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Grip looking for the choke from the back.
Grip is not going to allow King to sit and survive in this position.
Grip connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for King to escape the position.
Grip seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

King has hold of Grip's leg, trying to break free but it's let Grip lock up a rear naked choke! This could be big trouble! King is turning an unusual color here… he's out! Grip throws him to one side and jumps onto the cage to celebrate with his fans.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:46 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Max Grip!
