This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the light heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 19 wins and 13 losses; Pablo Octavio! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Octavio throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Wang tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Octavio is in Wang's guard. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Octavio gets back to half guard. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Wang in particular looking to stall. Wang looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Octavio knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Octavio is holding on to half guard well. Wang seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Octavio is doing well to control the position and prevent Wang from advancing to side control. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Wang wants to take Octavio's back but he can't do it this time. Wang really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Octavio. Wang has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Octavio is really stuck here.
That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Octavio staying busy and making it hard for Wang to control. Wang avoiding Octavio 's attempts to control his hands. Wang just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Octavio just trying to survive but Wang is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. I really don't envy Octavio right now.
