PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rocket Man (ranked 4012 p4p, 3964 weight class) and Judge The Law (ranked 386 p4p, 381 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Man misses with a looping right.
The Law keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Man scores with a sloppy right hand. The Law should have avoided that one.
Man tries to score a power double leg takedown but The Law sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Man somewhat.
Man has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rocket Man. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Man enables The Law to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Man manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Man has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but The Law can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The Law stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Man swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The Law lands a couple of elbows.
The Law wants to get up but he can't break Man's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The Law stays in close to Man's body and controls the position.
The Law wants to pass the guard but Man is keeping the position.
Man controls The Law momentarily but The Law frees himself.
Man tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The Law postures up in Man's guard and throws a big left but Man blocks it.
The Law is looking to stand up but Man won't let him.
The Law stays in close to Man's body and controls the position.
The Law postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Man could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Man escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. The Law gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Man had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. The Law defends it easily.
Man can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as The Law controls the pace.
The Law pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Man is keeping the position for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Man has a closed guard, preventing The Law from standing up.
The Law is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Man is trying to control the position but The Law postures up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Man paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Man misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

The Law tries to keep at a distance but Man has taken the fight into the clinch.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
The Law ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. The Law no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Man trying to control the position from guard on top but The Law is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Man tries to stand but The Law is controlling from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The Law not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Man advances position into side control!
The Law is looking for a sweep.

Man tries for a kimura but The Law is defending well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
The Law tries to get back to half guard but can't.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Rocket Man will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Man tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but The Law swivels and escapes.

The Law drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The Law not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Man has his foot on The Law's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. The Law works his way back into a safe position though.
The Law wanted to stand there but Man had control of the position.

Man looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The Law slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Man looking for a guillotine here but The Law defends easily.
The Law not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Man is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! The Law has his hands clasped together but Man extends and breaks The Law's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Man.
