Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Alden Williams! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ross Kay! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Atkins and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kay walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Kay has his takedown stuffed and Williams counters with a straight right hand. Kay drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Kay takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Kay takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. A shot to the liver by Williams. Beautiful body shot. Williams dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Jab from Williams. Kay shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Williams counters with a straight right hand. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Kay doesn't succeed with the takedown and Williams counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
It looks like Ross Kay has been cut. Alden Williams has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ross Kay. Williams connects with a nice looking jab.
Kay closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Williams punishes Kay's body with a nice straight punch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kay takes a jab right on the kisser.
Williams lunges at Kay with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Kay's hand. Williams connects with a jab. Williams keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Williams is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. The crowd cheers as Williams lands an impressive looking overhand right. Kay doesn't seem phased though. Williams cracks Kay with a right hand to the side of the head. Kay tries for a takedown but Williams circles away easily and Williams counters with a right hand to the body. Williams lands a nice hook to Kay's body. Kay takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Williams dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Kay shoots and misses and Williams counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Williams connects with a right hand. Kay shakes it off.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Williams throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kay stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Alden Williams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Williams scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. A right-left combo lands from Williams. Kay takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Williams scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Kay takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Williams scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Williams definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Kay shoots and misses and Williams counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Williams lands with a nice body punch. Kay throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Williams's waist but Williams gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kay off to one side. Kay takes one to the chin there. Williams cracks Kay with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Kay fails with the takedown.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kay takes one on the button. Williams clobbers Kay with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Kay misses with a takedown and Williams counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Kay misses with a takedown attempt and Williams counters with a left to the body. Williams is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Kay tries for a takedown but Williams circles away easily and Williams counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Kay is rocked! Kay looks winded! Kay has his takedown stuffed and Williams counters with a big right hand! Oh Kay is in trouble here! Williams follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!
