Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 25 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Thufir Hawat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ovaltine Jenkins!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Jenkins. Hawat does a little dance to reset his feet.
Hawat feinted there with a counter leg kick.
Hawat takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Jenkins throws a sloppy body shot
and Hawat counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
It looks like Ovaltine Jenkins has been cut.
Jenkins works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
A low kick from Jenkins is predictable there
and Hawat counters with a head kick that crumples his opponent - he's in a world of trouble! Hawat looks at the referee who does nothing so Hawat lands a crushing right that sends Jenkins to the floor! This time the ref steps in to end the fight.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Thufir Hawat!
Thufir Hawat was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
