PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Neo Till (ranked 24015 p4p, 23981 weight class) and Eftihios Nicolau (ranked 554 p4p, 564 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Eftihios Nicolau was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eftihios Nicolau!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Winston Howard and Damien Edna.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nicolau gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Till to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Till won't allow Nicolau to get back to his feet.
Till trying to control but Nicolau is working from the bottom.
Nicolau is looking to stand up but Till isn't so interested in that idea.
Till chips away with some ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nicolau wants to get back to his feet but Till is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Till is stalling in the full guard.
Till is standing up over Nicolau. Nicolau looks to escape but Till dives into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Till slows the pace down.
Till lands a nice forearm strike.
Till trying to control the position but Nicolau is working away.
Nicolau is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Till throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Nicolau stops Till from passing to mount.
Till wants to take a breather but Nicolau manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Till.

Till pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Nicolau is keeping the position for now.
Nicolau wants to sweep but no luck.
Till is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Till wants to stand but Nicolau has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Till stops Nicolau from standing up.
Till trying to control the position from guard on top but Nicolau is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Nicolau tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Till was well out of range. Poor timing from Nicolau.
Nicolau missing with a left hand there. Till was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Till bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Nicolau's head.
Eftihios Nicolau seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nicolau throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Good shot there by Nicolau.
Till slips under a jab from Nicolau.
Nicolau misses with a wild body shot.
Till appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Nicolau swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Till gets a double leg takedown into Nicolau's guard.
Till stays in close to Nicolau's body and controls the position.
Till with a flurry of punches that miss.
Till stops Nicolau from standing up.
Till is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Nicolau is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Till is controlling him.
Till trying to control the position from guard on top but Nicolau is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Nicolau wants to get back to his feet but Till passes into half guard.
Nicolau is trying to stand.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Till not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Till in particular looking to stall.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Till rushes Nicolau and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Neo Till dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Nicolau takes one to the side of the head.
Till slips under a jab from Nicolau.
Nice body punch from Nicolau.

Till shoots in and gets a takedown into Nicolau's guard.
Nicolau throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Till prevents Nicolau from getting back to his feet.
Nicolau keeping moving, preventing Till from controlling successfully.
Till content to stall in guard here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Till is working Nicolau over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Till is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Nicolau can do to turn this around?
Nicolau is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Nicolau tries to stand but can't do so whilst Till controls his leg.

Till looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Nicolau wants to stand up but Till has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Nicolau tries to pass the half guard into mount. Till knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Till is pressing down on Nicolau's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Till wants to get back to his feet but Nicolau is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Nicolau has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Till is proving hard to escape from.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Till avoids the body shot from Nicolau.
Nicolau lands with a good body shot.
Till throws a head kick that half lands.
Nicolau misses with a hook
and Till counters with a left and a right that stings Nicolau.

Nicolau is rocked!
Nicolau catches Till with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Nicolau is still on wobbly legs! Can Till finish him?
Till darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Till closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Nicolau.

Till breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nicolau tries to clinch up but Till circles away and keeps his distance.
Nicolau circles away from the clinch attempt.
Nicolau gets caught by a brutal right hook which buckles his knees! Nicolau tries to backpedal with his spaghettilegs but Till is headhunting and goes for the kill. A jab and a right hook connect and Nicolau buckles badly as his eyes roll back. The referee steps in and saves Nicolau!! Nicolau is complaining but he was clearly out on his feet. Till throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Mmmm spit-tastic.
