The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Thiago Cunha and Paulo Santos.


The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Voluspa is defended easily by Wasselach.

Voluspa darts in and clinches Wasselach up against the cage.

Wasselach ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Wasselach no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Wasselach pulls Voluspa in close to his closed guard and prevents Voluspa from doing any damage or advancing position.

Wasselach is looking for a triangle but Voluspa pushes his legs off easily.

Wasselach has his foot on Voluspa's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Voluspa works his way back into a safe position though.

Voluspa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wasselach swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Wasselach is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Voluspa is really struggling to control Wasselach but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Wasselach has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Voluspa can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Voluspa is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Wasselach has managed to free his arm - good work.

Voluspa looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Wasselach wants to get back to full guard.

Wasselach is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Voluspa pulls his head out easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Voluspa wants to work for an arm triangle but Wasselach is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
We've been hearing that Voluspa has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Voluspa drops back, looking for a kneebar! Wasselach looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Wasselach looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Wasselach!

Voluspa is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Voluspa is trying to maintain the position but Wasselach is very close to passing his half guard.

Wasselach has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Voluspa defend it? Wasselach steps over the head and cranks it - Voluspa is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Wasselach!
