Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Higanti Libat (ranked 23383 p4p, 23609 weight class) and Wala Sapi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wala Sapi acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 43 - 64 - 6, fighting out of Las Vegas, Higanti Libat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 54 - 50 - 10, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wala Sapi!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Sapi scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Libat controls the position for a moment.
Sapi is staying tight to Libat's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Libat struggling a bit here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sapi is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Libat will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Sapi shoots for a takedown but Libat saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Libat fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Sapi to the ground. Libat is now in Sapi's guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Sapi misses with a takedown attempt - Libat sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Libat drops down looking for a counter takedown but Sapi sprawls and moves away.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Libat gets caught napping as Sapi dives in and scores a takedown. Libat manages to retain guard.

Libat is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Sapi in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Horrible takedown attempt by Sapi or perhaps it was just good defense by Libat, which made it look bad.
Libat shoots in looking for a takedown. Sapi tries to sprawl out of it but Libat keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sapi manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
And Sapi responds with a good body kick, but Libat manages to step out the way in time.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Libat fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Sapi shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Libat as he avoids it easily.
Libat swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

Libat is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Libat is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Sapi is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Sapi has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Libat keeping moving, preventing Sapi from controlling successfully.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sapi wants to pass the guard but Libat is keeping the position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Sapi closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Sapi lands in his opponent's guard.
Sapi won't allow Libat to sweep him here.

Libat is trying to control the position but Sapi postures up.

Wala Sapi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Libat shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Sapi manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Libat slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Sapi pulls Libat in close to prevent any damage.

Libat seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Sapi has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Libat has passed into side control.
Sapi holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Libat is controlling the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Libat is defended easily by Sapi.
Sapi is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Libat dives in and grabs Sapi's left leg, looking for a takedown. Sapi pushes down on Libat's head and hops out.

Well Sapi has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
