PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Obi Wan Shitnobi (ranked 4432 p4p, 24814 weight class) and Sam Canasta (ranked 476 p4p, 553 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sam Canasta!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shitnobi slips under a jab from Canasta.
Canasta looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Shitnobi jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Canasta ducks under a wild hook from Shitnobi.
Canasta takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Shitnobi misses with a looping left.
Canasta bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Shitnobi is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Canasta tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Shitnobi manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Canasta defending well as Shitnobi loads up on a big left hand.

Canasta connects with a nice looking jab.
Canasta missing with a left hand there. Shitnobi was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Shitnobi moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Canasta blocks a jab.
Canasta tries to clinch but Shitnobi moves out of range.
Jab, jab by Canasta - just one landing.
Canasta bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Shitnobi's head.
Shitnobi misses with an uppercut. Canasta saw that one coming.
Shitnobi throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Canasta moves forwards but Shitnobi connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Canasta displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Shitnobi throws out the jab.

Canasta ducks into a a hook from Shitnobi and goes down! He looks in a bit of a mess; will he beat the count?! 4,5,6,7,8 - he's up and looking to carry on! The referee looks into his eyes and sees that he's OK to continue!

It looks like Sam Canasta has been cut.
Shitnobi staying out of range there.
Shitnobi is looking to counter punch.
Canasta lands a nice hook to Shitnobi's body. Shitnobi takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Canasta cracks Shitnobi with an open hand slap.
Shitnobi getting the better of the striking in that exchange.

Canasta is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Canasta glances at the clock... BAM! Shitnobi nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Canasta crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Canasta is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!
