Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bjorn Haelfson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kristian Kent!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Chris Edwards and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Haelfson fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Haelfson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Kent wants to get back to his feet.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kent can do anything to dispel that myth.
Haelfson tries to pass to full mount but Kent defends it.
Haelfson moves nicely into side control.
Kent prevents Haelfson from improving position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Haelfson wants to control but Kent is keeping him busy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Haelfson advances to full mount.
Kent stops Haelfson from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
Kent tries to lock up and control but Haelfson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Haelfson looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Haelfson moves to back control.
Haelfson has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Haelfson is looking to control Kent but Kent is wriggling around and keeping busy.

Haelfson has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Kent has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Kent trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.

Haelfson is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Kent has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Kent wants to control his opponent's hands but Haelfson gets his hands free.

Haelfson is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Kent has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Haelfson has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Kent taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Haelfson doesn't care though - he's delighted!
