Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dan Jones (ranked 1850 p4p, 1952 weight class) and Cormac McCarthy (ranked 202 p4p, 211 weight class). Cormac McCarthy is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dan Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cormac McCarthy! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Jonathan Paton and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McCarthy throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Jones on the side of the head. A slow jab from Jones misses its intended target. McCarthy lands with a good body shot. Jones throws a hook to the side of McCarthy's head but McCarthy sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Jones avoids a low kick by using good footwork. McCarthy ducks under a wild hook from Jones. A punch lands to the side of Jones 's head but he takes it in his stride. McCarthy throws a right hand that Jones ducks under and follows up with a left that Jones also avoids with ease. Jones cracks McCarthy with a good jab. Jones scores with a jab. McCarthy acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
It looks like Cormac McCarthy has been cut. McCarthy avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Jones avoids the head kick by McCarthy.
Nice defenses there by McCarthy. Jones throws a hook to the side of McCarthy's head but McCarthy sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! McCarthy lands a glancing blow to the side of Jones's head. McCarthy misses with a straight left. Jones appears to be looking for a counter takedown. McCarthy displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jones.

McCarthy slips under a jab from Jones. Jones looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. McCarthy scores with the left hand. Jones knows he should have avoided that one. Jones lands with an uppercut that bounces McCarthy off the cage and back into range. Jones thows a left - swing and a miss! Jones shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. McCarthy keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jones content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Jones trying to control from half guard but McCarthy is working away. McCarthy manages to get to full guard.

Jones got a little sloppy there for a moment and McCarthy has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jones has managed to get both his arms back between McCarthy's legs - danger averted. McCarthy looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Jones might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Jones looking to pass the guard. McCarthy tries to roll over but Jones keeps him under control. McCarthy looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Jones pushes past his half guard into mount! McCarthy has given up his back here. Will Jones look for the submission or keep pounding away?

Dan Jones dominated that round. The cut man is working on Cormac McCarthy's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Jones throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around McCarthy's waist but McCarthy gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jones off to one side. Jones misses with a left hand and McCarthy counters with a nice body shot. Jones gets a takedown into half guard. Dan Jones overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. McCarthy looking for submissions off his back. McCarthy actively working from the bottom here. Jones is looking to advance position but McCarthy won't allow it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jones is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that McCarthy can do to turn this around? McCarthy looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Jones seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but McCarthy does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. McCarthy actively working from the bottom here. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round! Jones moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Jones drives through with a takedown into guard. Jones wants to control from the top but McCarthy keeps moving. McCarthy is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Jones has his hands clasped together but McCarthy extends and breaks Jones's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by McCarthy.
