Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Duck Silva (ranked 3113 p4p, 25046 weight class) and Paulo Futre (ranked 178 p4p, 251 weight class). Paulo Futre has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Duck Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paulo Futre!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Stewart Dunkirk and Tiny Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Futre looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Futre blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Futre content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Silva jumps guard but Futre stands there with Silva around his waist. Silva gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Futre tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Silva's elbow.
I was talking to Silva's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Futre tries to work over Silva's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Futre has a couple of punches blocked by Silva.

Futre is struggling to control the position.

Futre wants the takedown. Silva is fighting it off but Futre persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Silva's guard against the cage.

Futre stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Silva swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Futre pushes down on Silva's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Still in half guard, Futre seems content to control.

Silva tries to get to full guard but Futre has control of the leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Futre slows the pace down in half guard.
Futre is pressing down on Silva's thigh, looking to free his foot. Silva is holding on for now.

Silva wants to improve his position but Futre is controlling well.
Futre is taking a breather. Silva says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
It looks like Futre might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Futre tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Futre fails with an attempt to clinch.
Silva seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Futre closes the distance but Silva moves to the side

so Silva counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Silva drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Futre dives on top into guard.

Futre doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Futre takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Futre shoots in for a takedown but Silva shows good takedown defense.

and Silva counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Silva.
Silva stands and throws Futre's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Silva has hold of Futre's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Futre tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Silva cranks the arm and Futre screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Futre, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
