PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kody Larson (ranked 25437 p4p, 4407 weight class) and Jack Turner (ranked 567 p4p, 475 weight class). Turner has chosen Rapstar as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. On his way into the cage it seems that Kody Larson has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Kody Larson seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kody Larson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Turner!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Larson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Turner paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Larson looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Turner fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Larson avoids it really well and circles away.
Larson tries to clinch but Turner moves out of range.
Turner appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.

Turner gets a clinch.
Larson has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Larson breaks from the clinch.
Larson avoids the body shot from Turner.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Turner shoots in and gets a takedown into Larson's guard.
Turner is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Turner seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Turner with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Turner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Larson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Larson controls Turner momentarily but Turner frees himself.

Turner drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Larson takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Turner lands a nice forearm strike.
Turner has control of an arm but Larson manages to advance to Turner's back!
Turner rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Turner keeps control of the position for the meantime.

Turner wants to get back to his feet.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Turner can do anything to dispel that myth.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Turner fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Larson looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Turner shoots in and bounces Larson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Turner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Larson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Turner tries to stand but Larson is controlling from the bottom.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Turner breaks from the clinch.

Turner clinches up with Larson and pushes him back against the cage.
Turner misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Larson.
A head punch on the inside from Larson fails to land.
Larson tries to stall but Turner uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Larson fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Turner pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Turner fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Larson blocks a leg kick.
Turner misses with a series of wild punches.

Turner throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Larson was covering up waiting for the punch and Turner finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Turner wants to stand but Larson has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Turner postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Larson can't keep his opponent in guard - Turner advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Turner stalling.

Larson has hold of Turner's hands but Turner slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Turner showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Larson gets caught napping as Turner dives in and scores a takedown. Larson manages to retain guard.
Turner wants to control from the top but Larson keeps moving.
Turner is stalling in the full guard.
Larson is trying to control the position but Turner postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Larson wants to control but Turner passes easily into half guard.

Turner stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Larson to get to his feet.

Turner feints and as Larson raises his hands in defense, Turner changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Turner slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Turner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Larson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Turner advances position into side control!

Turner is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Larson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Jack Turner is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Larson takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Larson tries to improve position but can't.
Turner moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Turner scores with a couple of short elbows.
Turner is putting a hurting on Larson here, landing some big shots from side control.
Larson tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Turner content just to control the position here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Turner lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Larson tries to reverse the position but Turner maintains control.
Turner takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Turner's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jack Turner comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Turner has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
