Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Muharib Xornimada!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mikuru Asakura!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Marco Blurström and Tarja Halkonen.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Xornimada throws a poor cross that misses
and Asakura counters with a solid body kick.

Xornimada drives through and clinches with Asakura against the cage.
Xornimada has Asakura pressed against the cage, preventing Asakura from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Xornimada definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Asakura is trying to break the clinch but Xornimada is controlling him.
Asakura drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Asakura avoids the elbow strike from Xornimada, against the cage.
Xornimada lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Asakura backwards.
Asakura looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It looked like Xornimada wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Asakura tries a head kick but it misses.

Xornimada takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Xornimada moves into the clinch successfully.

Xornimada is trying to get an arm triangle but Asakura is defending well.
Asakura tries to get back to half guard but can't.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Xornimada tries to score with some ground and pound. Asakura controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Xornimada throws a strike aimed at the side of Asakura's head but Asakura avoids it well.

Xornimada is looking to take a break and control but Asakura is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Asakura pushes Xornimada away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Xornimada gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Xornimada is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Asakura will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Xornimada creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Asakura sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Asakura tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Xornimada wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The referee asks Xornimada politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Xornimada prefers to stall for the moment though.
Asakura can't do much from the bottom here.
Asakura wants to get back to his feet but Xornimada drags him back down.

We've been informed that Asakura has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Xornimada misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Asakura is pushing Xornimada's head away, looking to escape. Xornimada manages to hold on to the position though.

Xornimada is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Asakura has escaped the position, nice work there.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Asakura gets tagged by a hook that puts him to sleep! Xornimada points and yells something to his unconcious foe before strutting off. Asakura wakes up just in time to hear Xornimada thank his coaches in the post fight interview.
