And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Miroslav Mihalik!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Phil Schofield and Andrew Berry.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newton lands a nice shot that snaps Mihalik's head back.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Mihalik.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mihalik controls the position.
Let's hope that Mihalik has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Newton definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Mihalik misses with the ground and pound.
Mihalik moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Mihalik creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Newton sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Mihalik is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Newton's shoulder. That is not cool.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Newton scores with a one two! Mihalik had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

It looks like Miroslav Mihalik has been cut.

Newton moves into range and clinches up with Mihalik.
Newton wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Mihalik blocks a body shot from Newton.

Newton is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Mihalik has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Newton wants to break the clinch but can't.
Mihalik has Newton pressed against the cage, preventing Newton from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Mihalik keeps control of Newton as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Newton lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Mihalik backwards.

Mihalik decides to pull guard.

Newton avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Mihalik is looking to control Newton's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mihalik avoid being mounted?
Mihalik wants to improve his position but Newton is controlling well.

Mihalik gets back to full guard.

Newton has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Mihalik to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Newton is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Mihalik pulls down on the head and he's put Newton to sleep! This one is all over!
