The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laguera misses with a low kick.

Nova manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Laguera on his heels. He'll look to pass Laguera's guard now, I'm sure.
Nova will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Nova drops back, looking for a kneebar! Laguera looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Laguera looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Laguera!

Laguera is trying to shake Nova off. He's managed it and has hopped back to his feet! Nova won't be happy about giving up the dominant position.

Nova shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Laguera manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Laguera got a little sloppy there for a moment and Nova has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Laguera has managed to get both his arms back between Nova's legs - danger averted.

Nova is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Laguera defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Nova swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Laguera is now in Nova's guard. A big mistake from Nova there, giving up the dominant position!

Nova has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Laguera is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Nova.

Well Laguera has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
