Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nicolas Acosta! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Randy Savage! The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Valeri Chadov and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Acosta tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. A head kick from Acosta lands but Savage takes it in his stride. Savage lands with a kick to the temple. Acosta shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Acosta gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Acosta is looking for a triangle but Savage pushes his legs off easily.
Acosta looking for a guillotine here but Savage defends easily.

Savage is looking to work some ground and pound but Acosta has wrist control. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Savage accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Savage is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Acosta is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Savage has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's one minute gone in the round. Acosta looking to hit a scissor sweep but Savage is one step ahead there. Savage slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Savage pushes down on Acosta's leg and manages to get into half guard. Savage trying to control the pace. Savage is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Savage is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Savage prevents Acosta from improving his position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Acosta has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Savage is working away from the top position though. Savage is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Acosta has managed to free his arm - good work. Savage looks gassed! Acosta trying to hold on to Savage's head to control him but Savage postures up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Acosta keeps the fight on the outside.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Acosta cracks the inside of Savage's front leg. Acosta tries to clinch and Savage counters with a nice double leg into side control. Acosta won't be happy with that. Acosta is not content to let Savage control the position. Acosta can't do much from the bottom here. Acosta is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Savage off and has taken his back! Acosta is looking to finish with some ground and pound! Acosta punishes Savage with strikes from the back mount. Acosta controlling well, preventing Savage from escaping the position.
Savage rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Savage works his way to full guard. Good work. Acosta is fighting to break Savage's control of his arms but Savage is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Savage manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Savage wants to finish this one by submission but Acosta is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Savage. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! Savage looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Savage takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Savage moves to the back position. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Savage wants to control but Acosta is keeping busy. Savage keeps control of the position easily here as Acosta tries to buck him off.
Acosta breaks Savage's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Randy Savage dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Acosta tries to clinch but Savage moves away and Savage counters with a single leg into guard. Acosta didn't expect that. Acosta looking for a triangle here. Savage is fighting it but it looks tight! Acosta pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Savage is tapping out - this one is all over!
