Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pascal Popper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Dean!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Richard Clark and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dean lands a nice shot to the body.
Popper with a nice cross.
Popper takes a swing at Dean's ribcage but misses.
Dean tries to clinch but Popper moves away
and Popper counters with a nice uppercut.
Popper definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Dean misses with a hook. Popper ducked under it nicely.
Dean's coach down at Tran MMA Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Dean's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
A big right from Popper misses.
Dean throws a series of punches but Popper moves out of range.
Dean is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Popper misses with an uppercut.
Dean feints a counter leg kick.
Dean throws a poor cross that misses
enabling Popper to counter with a crisp jab.
Dean throws the left hand but Popper avoids the punch easily.
A little feinted left hand from Popper on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Dean throws a right hand that misses
and Popper counters with a straight right hand.
Popper throws a hook to the side of Dean's head but Dean sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Dean scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Popper feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Dean sprawling to the canvas! Dean rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Popper finish him?!
Dean is rocked!
Dean closes the distance but Popper moves to the side
and Popper counters with a nice uppercut.
Dean is still on wobbly legs! Can Popper finish him?
James Dean seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dean glances at the clock... BAM! Popper nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Dean crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Dean is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Pascal Popper!
