Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Walton (ranked 2151 p4p, 3686 weight class) and Derek Rodney (ranked 279 p4p, 442 weight class). Derek Rodney has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jake Walton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 7 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Derek Rodney! The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Chris Edwards and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A shot to the body from Rodney misses and Walton counters with a stiff right hand. Rodney lands with a nice body punch. A slow jab from Walton misses its intended target. Walton definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Walton walks into a stiff left hand from Rodney. Walton misses with a right hand and Rodney counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Rodney just misses with a punch to the body.
A quick step to the side and Walton tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Walton avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
It looked like Walton was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Rodney. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rodney throws a body shot but no joy. Rodney ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Left hook, right uppercut from Walton.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rodney misses with a hook to the body
enabling Walton to counter with a crisp jab. Rodney scores with a body shot.
Rodney works over Walton's head and body with a nice combination. Rodney misses with a hook
and Rodney takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Rodney is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Walton rather than just go for the knockout. Rodney uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Walton.
Rodney tries to clinch but Walton moves out of range. Rodney throws a series of punches but Walton avoids them all with ease. Rodney pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Walton back to the cage. Rodney follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
It looks like Jake Walton has been cut. Rodney lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Walton at a distance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rodney misses with a double jab.

and Walton counters with a nice body shot. Rodney looks winded! Walton lands a big right hand that sends Rodney crashing to the mat! Walton stays standing though and waves Rodney back to his feet!
It looks like Derek Rodney has been cut. Rodney bobbing and weaving nicely... He's ducked under a jab and ducks again but ooooooh! Walton comes at him with an uppercut from hell! Rodney falls to the canvas, unconscious! This one is all over! Oh man, looking at the replay that was right on the button! Rodney was out before he hit the floor!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jake Walton!
