PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Peter Pistort (ranked 5166 p4p, 3750 weight class) and Soul Taker (ranked 0 p4p, 375 weight class). Pistort kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Travis Scott - FE!N. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Peter Pistort!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Soul Taker!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Percy O'Donnell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taker throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Taker leaves Pistort with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Taker throws a series of punches but Pistort moves out of range.

Pistort closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Pistort jumps guard but Taker turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Taker stops a takedown attempt from Pistort.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Peter Pistort. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Taker prevents the takedown attempt.
Taker is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Pistort to keep the fight standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pistort gets control of Taker's arms and successfully pulls guard. Pistort will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Taker drops back looking for a leg! Pistort is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Pistort manages to kick Taker off! Taker jumps back into Pistort's guard.

Pistort knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Taker on the ground.
Taker advances to half guard.
Pistort wants to get back to full guard.
Taker works his way into full mount!
Taker is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Pistort can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Taker landing strikes, looking to finish!

Taker content just to control the position here.
Let's hope that Taker has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Taker breaks from Pistort's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Taker can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Pistort is looking to escape.
Taker is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Taker landing strikes from the mount and Pistort is in trouble!
Taker pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Pistort tries to hold on but Taker postures up.

Taker wants to finish this one by submission but Pistort is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Taker.

Taker fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Taker lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Taker with shots to the head and body - Pistort looks very uncomfortable down there.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Taker wants to control the pace but Pistort is squirming around nicely.
Taker scoring with strikes but Pistort is staying in there.
Taker trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Taker has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Pistort sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Taker looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Pistort tries a head kick but it misses.
Taker swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Pistort makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Pistort shoots in looking for a takedown. Taker tries to sprawl out of it but Pistort keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Taker manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Taker throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Pistort slips a jab and a cross from Taker.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pistort moves into range and clinches up with Taker.
Pistort will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Taker up against the cage.
Taker drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Pistort gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Taker tries for a takedown but Pistort manages to get underhooks.

Pistort pulls guard.
Taker controlling from the top position.
Taker cracks Pistort with a solid left hand.
Pistort preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Taker lands a couple of elbows.

Taker throwing strikes but missing.
Taker postures up and lands a big shot to Pistort's brow.
Taker works over Pistort with some ground and pound from guard.
Taker working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Pistort's head.
Pistort is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Taker trying to control but Pistort is working from the bottom.

Taker advances to half guard.
Pistort wants to get back to his feet.

Taker is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Taker moves nicely into side control.
Taker working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Taker wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pistort keeps working.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Soul Taker showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Taker shoots for a double leg takedown but Pistort sprawls well. He's pushed Taker's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Taker has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Taker throws a sloppy head kick and Pistort moves out of range easily.
Pistort seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Taker shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Pistort napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Pistort is looking to get back to his feet here but Taker is keeping cool and he's managed to take Pistort's back.
Taker scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.

Taker is working for a rear naked choke. Pistort is not defending it well and Taker has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Pistort refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Pistort's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
