This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 4 wins and 3 losses; Eric Winston! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Percy O'Donnell and Don Winkell.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Maykit fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Winston to the ground. Maykit is now in Winston's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Winston might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Maykit haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Maykit tries to free his leg and advance position but Winston is retaining full guard. Maykit controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Winston controls Maykit momentarily but Maykit frees himself. Winston working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Maykit doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Maykit manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Maykit sitting in guard here, content to control.

And that's the end of the fight! As we have tied on points, we go to a tie breaker and Winston gets a bonus point for attempting more subs. Winston wins on points by 10 to 9. During a confident post fight interview, Eric Winston thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him. |
