PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight kickboxing rules bout between Ezequiel Campos (ranked 4002 p4p, 4103 weight class) and Woo Hyuk Hwang (ranked 413 p4p, 424 weight class). Campos comes to the ring accompanied by Fumafu. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ezequiel Campos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Woo Hyuk Hwang!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Hirohito Nitta and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Campos slips a straight right by Hwang.
Campos lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hwang circles away quickly and effectively.
Some wild striking there from Campos.
Hwang catches Campos with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Campos throws a big shot that misses.
Campos slips under a jab.
Hwang lands a really nice looking cross but Campos seems unphased.
Campos connects with a right hand. Hwang shakes it off.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Campos throws a lazy right hand but Hwang sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Campos moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

It looks like Woo Hyuk Hwang has been cut.
Hwang misses with a wild body shot.
Campos throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Campos lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Campos fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Hwang lands with a shot to the body.
Campos misses with a left hand

and Hwang counters by moving into the clinch.

Hwang breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hwang slips a straight right by Campos.
Hwang has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Campos finds it's way round the side to connect with Hwang's head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Campos scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Campos thuds his right hand into Hwang's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Campos misses with an uppercut. Hwang saw that one coming.
Hwang steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Campos.

Hwang slips under a jab from Campos.

Campos connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Hwang walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Campos checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
A quick step to the side and Campos tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Campos looks to land a right hand but Hwang moved out of range.
Hwang tries to counter by closing the distance.
Campos blocks a jab.
As Hwang looks to move away, Campos throws a big counter combo but Hwang just gets out of the way.
Campos rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hwang moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Hwang throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Campos.
Some bone on bone action there as Hwang checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Campos lands a really nice looking cross but Hwang seems unphased.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Ezequiel Campos dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Woo Hyuk Hwang's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Hwang takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Campos misses with a looping left.
Hwang wants to counter with a clinch but Campos pushes him away.
Hwang throws a good cross that connects.
Hwang loads up on a big right hand but Campos slips the punch.
Hwang swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Hwang walks into a big right hand from Campos and goes down! The referee sends Campos to a neutral corner as Hwang gets back to his feet. He looks OK so we're back under way.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hwang misses with a straight left.
Campos clobbers Hwang with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Hwang is rocked!

That has opened up Woo Hyuk Hwang's cut even more.
Hwang waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Campos.
Campos misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Hwang is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Campos is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hwang can do to turn this around?
Hwang fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Campos manages to avoid it.
Hwang throws an overhand right that lands on Campos's shoulder, as Campos tries to avoid the shot.
Campos swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Hwang takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Campos connects with a beautiful left hand that drops Hwang onto his butt! Hwang bounces straight back up though - he's OK. After the ref checks him out, we're back to the action.
Hwang is still on wobbly legs! Can Campos finish him?
Hwang uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Campos has time to react.
Hwang seems to have recovered his senses.
A combination from Campos does no damage.

and Hwang counters by moving into the clinch.

Hwang's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hwang on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

The cut above Woo Hyuk Hwang's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Campos looks to land a left hand but Hwang moved out of range nicely.

Campos seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Campos tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Hwang throws a shot from downtown. Campos moves away and avoids it.
Campos is looking to counter punch.
Ezequiel Campos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hwang connects with a looping right hand.

Campos tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hwang was well out of range. Poor timing from Campos.
Hwang is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Campos displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Hwang throws out the jab.

Campos misses with a looping right.
Hwang tries to score with a low kick but Campos moves his leg out of the way.

Campos scores with a jab and follows up with an uppercut that drops Hwang to his knees! He bounces straight back to his feet but is forced to take the mandatory standing 8 count before he's allowed to continue. We're back under way and the fighters meet in the middle of the canvas to re-engage.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Campos throws a hook to the side of Hwang's head but Hwang sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Campos lands with a right, followed by a left to the temple and Hwang goes down! The ref sends Campos to a neutral corner so he can begin the count. 3,4,5,6 and Hwang is back to his feet. He seems a little groggy but the referee thinks he's OK to continue, so we're back to the action!

Woo Hyuk Hwang's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Woo Hyuk Hwang's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Ezequiel Campos!
