This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 20 wins and 35 losses; Filmore Everett! And in the blue corner, fighting out of St Petersburg, with a TWGC record of 14 wins and 31 losses; Nate Pawn! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Chris Downing and Robert Twigg.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Pawn clinches. Everett wants to take the fight to the mat but Pawn manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Everett pulls guard. Everett keeping moving, preventing Pawn from controlling successfully. Pawn has gone for a leg lock! Everett slips out almost immediately though and dives into Pawn's guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Everett (2) vs (0) Pawn The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Everett is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Everett drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Everett jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Everett drops back, looking for a kneebar! Pawn looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Pawn looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! That's one minute gone in the round. Pawn working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Everett is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now. Pawn tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Pawn has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Everett manages to work his way to half guard, despite Pawn's best efforts.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Everett is not content to let Pawn control the position. Pawn seems to be looking for submissions.
Pawn is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Everett still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Everett has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work! Score +4 for clean sweep to past guard: Everett (6) vs (4) Pawn Everett moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Everett tries to move to mount but Pawn blocks the move with his legs. Everett is trying to get an arm triangle but Pawn is defending well. Everett wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Pawn, who protects the arm well. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Everett is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Pawn's shoulder. That is not cool.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pawn wants to control but Everett postures up. Everett has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Pawn is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Everett yanks on the arm and Pawn is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Everett.
