Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Thlek Buidi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Alfonso Melendez!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Sergei Dronov and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Melendez fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Buidi throws a wild body kick that Melendez sees coming a mile off.
Melendez tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Melendez throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Melendez misses with a body punch
and Buidi counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Buidi tries to free his leg and advance position but Melendez is retaining full guard.
Buidi seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Melendez wants to sweep but no luck.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Buidi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Melendez swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Melendez working a defensive guard but Buidi passes into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Buidi is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Melendez!
Buidi swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Melendez is now in Buidi's guard. A big mistake from Buidi there, giving up the dominant position!
Buidi looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Melendez is defending well. Buidi quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Melendez has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Buidi celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Thlek Buidi!
