Ponenki is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: A Vida É Desafio. Jagger Benson has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jagger Benson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Aldemiro Ponenki!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Frank Dennis and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ponenki looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Benson isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Ponenki stacks Benson on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Ponenki!
Ponenki wants to control but Benson is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Benson manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Benson wants to control but Ponenki is keeping busy.
Ponenki wants to pass the guard but Benson is defending well.
Benson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ponenki is working away from the top position though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ponenki lands strikes from half guard.
Ponenki is just content to waste time from the top position. Benson takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Benson is controlling Ponenki's posture.
Ponenki scoring with punches to the head and body.

Benson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ponenki can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Ponenki wants to pass the guard but Benson is keeping the position.
Benson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Ponenki trying to control but Benson is working from the bottom.
Ponenki really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Benson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Benson pulls Ponenki in to control the position.
Benson preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Ponenki throwing strikes from guard but Benson blocks nicely.
Ponenki must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Benson uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Benson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Ponenki fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Benson manages to avoid it.
A slow jab from Ponenki misses its intended target.
Benson misses with the combination.

Benson moves into range and clinches up with Ponenki.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Benson pulls guard.
Ponenki controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Benson thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Benson seems keen to control Ponenki's posture.
Ponenki trying to control but Benson is working from the bottom.
Ponenki keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Benson's head.

Benson looking for a triangle here. Ponenki is fighting it but it looks tight! Benson pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Ponenki is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Jagger Benson!
Aldemiro Ponenki spoke after the fight, saying 'I tried my best,but y'know,it was not enough,and i respect that and my opponent for his deserved win,after all i am going to do my best and come stronger to the next fight'.
