Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Corwin Anstey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Corey Watkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anstey comes to the cage accompanied by all for you. Corwin Anstey had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Corwin Anstey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Corey Watkins!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Yves DeLean and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Watkins fails with a takedown attempt.
Watkins tries to score a power double leg takedown but Anstey sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Watkins somewhat.
Watkins looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Corwin Anstey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Corey Watkins.

Watkins fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Anstey sprawls well initially but Watkins persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Anstey is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Watkins pulls his head out easily.
Anstey is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Anstey wants to get back to full guard but Watkins has mounted him!

Anstey is trying desperately to improve position.
Watkins lands with some strikes.
Anstey is wriggling around trying to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Watkins looking to control but Anstey is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Anstey tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Anstey is working hard here to advance position.
Anstey bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Anstey slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Anstey is breathing heavily.
You can see the frustration on Watkins's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Anstey tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Anstey has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Anstey working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Watkins should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Anstey thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Watkins is looking for a sweep.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Anstey tries to move into full mount but can't pass Watkins's legs.

Anstey is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Watkins is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Watkins is trying to control Anstey's posture but Anstey avoids it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Corwin Anstey will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Anstey shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Watkins pinned against the cage. Watkins gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Anstey feints and as Watkins raises his hands in defense, Anstey changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Watkins seems keen to control Anstey's posture.

Anstey has gone for a leg lock! Watkins slips out almost immediately though and dives into Anstey's guard.

Anstey is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Watkins is aware though and is defending well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Anstey had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Watkins is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Anstey Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Watkins's back instead.

Anstey has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Watkins has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Watkins tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Anstey is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Anstey!
