Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between William Kidd (ranked 3308 p4p, 5258 weight class) and Jujitsu John (ranked 427 p4p, 558 weight class). Kidd comes to the cage accompanied by Randy Dandy Oh. William Kidd had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, William Kidd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jujitsu John!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Colin Fotheringham and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from John.
John takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
John throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kidd's waist but Kidd gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing John off to one side.
Kidd swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
John keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

John looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Kidd!
Kidd is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

John is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kidd is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kidd wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Kidd stalks John and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into John's face. John staggers backwards, shaken.

John will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Kidd, as that shot connected.
John shoots in and drives through. Kidd sprawls well.
A quick step to the side and Kidd tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kidd looks to score with a jab to the body but John is just out of range.

John fails with the takedown.
John shoots for a double leg takedown but Kidd sprawls well. He's pushed John's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Kidd lands a really nice looking cross but John seems unphased.
Kidd throws a series of punches but John moves out of range.
William Kidd seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kidd connects with a body shot that sends John's belly button to the back.
John throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

John lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Kidd comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

and Kidd counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kidd slaps away a takedown attempt from John, before circling back to the center of the mat.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The crowd cheers as Kidd lands an impressive looking overhand right. John doesn't seem phased though.

and Kidd connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Kidd jabs John right on the nose. John blinks but takes it well.
Kidd lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
John is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

John shoots in looking for a takedown. Kidd tries to sprawl out of it but John keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kidd manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

John takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Kidd throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent John stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
John takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

John shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kidd's guard.
