3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Barney Stinson! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Jonathan Paton and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Luongo fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Luongo shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Luongo showed some decent athleticism there. Luongo seems to be working for a kimura but Stinson defends the submission attempt. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Luongo is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Luongo is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Stinson has managed to free his arm - good work. That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Stinson wants to hold on but Luongo pushes him away. Luongo is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Stinson has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Stinson stacks Luongo on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Stinson! Luongo manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Luongo kicks off Stinson and gets to his feet. Stinson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Luongo.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Stinson with a poor takedown and Luongo counters with a nice double leg into side control. Stinson won't be happy with that. Luongo decides to stand back up. Luongo misses with a takedown and Stinson counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Luongo! That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Francesco Luongo. That's going to take a lot out of him. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Stinson wants to control the pace but Luongo is squirming around nicely. Luongo can't escape the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Luongo looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Stinson! Luongo jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Stinson is gargling but he's managed to escape! Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt. Stinson wants to control from the top but Luongo keeps moving.

Stinson is aware though and is defending well. Luongo has his foot on Stinson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Stinson works his way back into a safe position though. Luongo looking for subs off his back but Stinson has passed one foot through into half guard.

He'll be looking to tighten that up but Stinson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Luongo is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Stinson is aware though and is defending well. Francesco Luongo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Luongo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Stinson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Stinson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Stinson advances to half guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Luongo is looking to improve his position.
