Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Octavio Sampson (ranked 0 p4p, 4353 weight class) and Cartier Buffs (ranked 0 p4p, 458 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Octavio Sampson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Cartier Buffs!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Anni Minnemäki and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Buffs lands with a good body shot.
Buffs throws a body punch but Sampson moves out of range.

Sampson gets a double leg takedown into Buffs's guard.

Buffs has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sampson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Buffs has his foot on Sampson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sampson works his way back into a safe position though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Buffs is trying to control the position but Sampson postures up.

Sampson gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Buffs connects with a right hand. Sampson shakes it off.
Sampson connects with a body shot that sends Buffs's belly button to the back.

Sampson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Buffs did well to prevent Sampson getting side control.

Sampson tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Sampson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Buffs on the ground.
Well, if Sampson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Buffs is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Buffs trying to control from the bottom.
Sampson passes the guard and advances to mount!
Sampson lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Buffs is trying to escape the mount.
Sampson punching from mount but Buffs doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Buffs tries to lock up and control but Sampson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Buffs sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Still in half guard, Sampson seems content to control.
Sampson wants to pass to mount but Buffs is defending the position.

Buffs is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Sampson pulls his head out easily.
Sampson is looking to advance position but Buffs won't allow it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The fighters are battling for position here. Buffs manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Sampson decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Buffs throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Buffs thows a left - swing and a miss!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Buffs takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Sampson lands a head kick. Buffs smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Sampson slips under a jab.
Buffs looks to score with a jab to the body but Sampson is just out of range.
Sampson takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Buffs throws a body punch but Sampson moves out of range.

Sampson shoots in and bounces Buffs off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Buffs working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sampson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sampson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Buffs can't do much from the bottom here.
Buffs is trying to work for a sweep but Sampson has mounted him!

Buffs is squirming around, avoiding Sampson's attempts to control the action.
Sampson avoids the attempt from Buffs to control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Sampson sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Buffs working to try and regain half guard.
Buffs tries to hold on but Sampson pushes him away.
Sampson prevents Buffs from getting the reversal.
Sampson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Buffs can do to turn this around?
Buffs is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Buffs is wriggling around trying to escape.
Buffs bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Sampson holds on and takes a little breather.

Buffs trying to control the position from guard on top but Sampson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Buffs lands a couple of digs.
Buffs throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Sampson is striking but Buffs is not phased and passes to half guard.
Buffs trying to control the action but Sampson is working from the bottom.
Buffs is just content to waste time from the top position. Sampson takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Sampson wants to sweep here but Buffs controlling him for the moment.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Buffs is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Sampson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sampson keeping moving, preventing Buffs from controlling successfully.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Octavio Sampson will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Buffs connects with a body shot.
Buffs punishes Sampson's body with a nice straight punch.
Buffs misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Sampson.

Sampson has managed to clinch.
Sampson fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Sampson wants the takedown. Buffs is fighting it off but Sampson persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Buffs's guard against the cage.
Sampson is looking to stand up but Buffs won't let him.

Sampson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Sampson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Buffs is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Sampson has his hands clasped together but Buffs extends and breaks Sampson's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Buffs.
