PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Scott Thompson (ranked 1665 p4p, 2557 weight class) and Karel Sup (ranked 200 p4p, 289 weight class). Thompson kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Redneck Summer - Ben Hudson. Scott Thompson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Scott Thompson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 22 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Karel Sup!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Mauricio Rocha and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sup ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Thompson moves away.
Sup takes a swing at Thompson's ribcage but misses.

Thompson fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Sup to the ground. Thompson is now in Sup's guard.
Thompson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Thompson trying to control the position from guard on top but Sup is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Thompson is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Sup tries to land a sweep but no joy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Thompson has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Thompson feints and as Sup raises his hands in defense, Thompson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

and Thompson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Sup's guard.
