Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Maverick (ranked 1465 p4p, 2000 weight class) and Fiya Patron (ranked 206 p4p, 273 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Daniel Maverick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Fiya Patron!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Robert Douchet and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Patron throws a looping overhand right but Maverick ducks down to avoid it.
Maverick half committed to a counter leg kick.
The fighters circle momentarily. Patron darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Patron misses with a right hand
and Maverick counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
A head kick misses from Maverick.
Patron misses the jab.
Patron swings for the body but Maverick moves out of range.
Maverick looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.
Patron lands a jab to the head.
Maverick looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Patron misses with a wild body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Patron lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Maverick at a distance.
Maverick throws a head kick but Patron moves out of range.
Patron is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Maverick.
Maverick lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Maverick throws a push kick but Patron slaps the foot to one side.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The crowd cheers as Patron lands an impressive looking overhand right. Maverick doesn't seem phased though.
Sloppy strikes from Maverick. Those never looked like landing.
Maverick keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Patron.
Maverick uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Patron has time to react.
Maverick walks into a stiff left hand from Patron.
Patron connects with a jab.
Maverick lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Maverick lands a big head kick that sends Patron tumbling to the mat! Maverick takes a step backwards and waves Patron back to his feet - he wants the finish!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Maverick slips a straight right by Patron.
Patron throws a sloppy body shot
and Maverick counters with a huge left! Patron is in big trouble! He's backing up but Maverick isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Patron from any more damage. A dominating finish by Maverick!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Daniel Maverick!
Daniel Maverick spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
