PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Geronimo Lindeman (ranked 1554 p4p, 2076 weight class) and Zap Pushkin (ranked 218 p4p, 283 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Geronimo Lindeman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Zap Pushkin!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Trevor Gratis and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

and Lindeman makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Lindeman is looking to clinch.
Lindeman takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Lindeman tries to close the distance and clinch but Pushkin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Pushkin cracks Lindeman with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

and Pushkin counters with a nice body shot.

Pushkin throws a front kick that sends Lindeman stumbling back into the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

It seemed like Pushkin was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Pushkin has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Lindeman lands a head kick. Pushkin smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Pushkin throws a fast counter high kick but Lindeman manages to duck under it in time.

Pushkin throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Lindeman's head.

Pushkin has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Pushkin lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Lindeman lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Lindeman wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Pushkin has him pressed against the cage.
Lindeman will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body.

It looked like Lindeman was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Pushkin.

Pushkin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Lindeman feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Pushkins jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Pushkin ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Lindeman throws a jab when Pushkin was well out of range.
A low kick lands for Lindeman.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Pushkin ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Lindeman fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

and Pushkin cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Lindeman misses the body punch
and Pushkin counters with a nice uppercut.
Pushkin bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Lindeman's head.
Pushkin buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Pushkin throws a nice outside leg kick.

Pushkin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Lindeman is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Good standup being displayed there by Lindeman as he connects with a hook.
We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Pushkin in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

Pushkin replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Lindeman blocks it well.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Pushkin lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Lindeman has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Lindeman and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

and Pushkin comes in over the top with a devastating right hand! Lindeman stumbles back against the cage, looking to regain his senses but Pushkin is on him like rabid pit bull! Lindeman slumps to the ground under a storm of punches and this fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 6:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Zap Pushkin!
An out of breath Zap Pushkin thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
