PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Felix Bouchard (ranked 4042 p4p, 4074 weight class) and Jimbo Fisher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Felix Bouchard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jimbo Fisher!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bouchard tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Bouchard swinging wildly here.
Bouchard tries for a takedown but Fisher circles away easily

and Fisher holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Bouchard tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Fisher smiles and moves away.
Fisher throws a leg kick that misses.
Bouchard swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Bouchard tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Fisher paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Fisher is looking for the big counter here.
Fisher comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Fisher throws a nice looking combination but Bouchard bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
No luck for Bouchard with that takedown attempt.

and Fisher counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Fisher.
Bouchard wants to break the clinch but can't.

Fisher successfully pulls guard.
Fisher wants to sweep but no luck.

Fisher had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bouchard defends it easily.
Bouchard wants to pass the guard but Fisher is keeping the position.
Fisher is pulling down on Bouchard's head to control his posture.
Fisher tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bouchard is looking to stand up but Fisher won't let him.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bouchard passes into half guard.
Fisher controlling the position well.
Bouchard seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Fisher does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Bouchard tries to pass to full mount but Fisher defends it.
Fisher is controlling Bouchard's position as best he can from this difficult position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Fisher moves into the clinch successfully.

Fisher manages to break the clinch.

Fisher fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Bouchard to the ground. Fisher is now in Bouchard's guard.
Bouchard controls Fisher momentarily but Fisher frees himself.
Fisher postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Fisher wanted to stand there but Bouchard had control of the position.
Fisher content to stall in guard here.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Fisher looking to pass the guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jimbo Fisher dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Bouchard gets tackled into the cage by Fisher. Fisher maintains the clinch.
Bouchard is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Bouchard tries for a takedown but Fisher manages to get underhooks.
Fisher lands a body punch.

Fisher wants the takedown. Bouchard is fighting it off but Fisher persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Bouchard's guard against the cage.
Fisher wants to get up but he can't break Bouchard's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bouchard looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Fisher passes into side control.
Fisher lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Bouchard down.

Fisher slows the pace down.
Bouchard takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Bouchard can't do much from the bottom here.
Fisher is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Bouchard's shoulder. That is not cool.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Fisher is staying tight to Bouchard's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Bouchard prevents Fisher from moving into mount.

Fisher is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Bouchard knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Fisher tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Bouchard wants to get back to his feet.

Fisher cracks Bouchard with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Fisher has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Fisher working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Bouchard manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Fisher works his way to full guard. Good work.
Bouchard trying to control but Fisher is working from the bottom.
Fisher tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Bouchard looking to sit in guard and control but Fisher gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bouchard is on top in guard.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jimbo Fisher showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Fisher drives through and clinches with Bouchard against the cage.
Bouchard is trying to pull guard but Fisher has him pressed against the cage.

Fisher has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Bouchard clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

A bit of a pause in the action here. Fisher controlling the positon.
Jimbo Fisher has got the better of the ground game so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fisher has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Bouchard has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Fisher controlling well, preventing Bouchard from escaping the position.
Bouchard trying to control the hands but Fisher won't let him.
Fisher really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Bouchard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Bouchard is trying to stand back up.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Bouchard is trying to break free.
Fisher really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bouchard. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Fisher working for a choke but Bouchard is defending well.
Bouchard trying to get back to his feet but Fisher is in full control for now.
Bouchard tries to roll but Fisher sticks to his back.
Fisher just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Well Fisher has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
