This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 14 wins and 30 losses; Jaro Lalla! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 1 losses; Robert Gracie! The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Paul Gruel and Josh West.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Gracie closes the distance and clinches. Lalla manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Lalla is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Gracie slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Score +3 for passing guard: Lalla (0) vs (3) Gracie Gracie tries to advance to mount but can't. Gracie working away. Gracie thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Lalla really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gracie wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Lalla, who protects the arm well. Gracie goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Lalla has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Gracie but great work by Lalla. Score +4 for clean sweep to past guard: Lalla (4) vs (3) Gracie
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie tries to buck Lalla off but Lalla is having none of it. Lalla is looking to take a break and control but Gracie is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Lalla tries to move into full mount but can't pass Gracie's legs. Lalla trying to control the position but Gracie is working away. Gracie is looking for a sweep. Gracie wants to control but Lalla postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gracie is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Lalla is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Lalla tries to get the hooks in deep but Gracie pushed the leg off. Gracie tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Gracie gets back to half guard. Lalla is trying to control. Gracie wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Gracie controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Gracie trying to control but Lalla postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Lalla is looking to take a break and control but Gracie is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Gracie actively working from the bottom here. Gracie slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Gracie wants to sweep but no luck.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gracie manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lalla manages to get himself to full guard.

No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Lalla keeping full guard, as Gracie tries to pass. Gracie drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Lalla manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Gracie has Lalla in his guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Lalla (11) vs (5) Gracie Gracie trying to keep a closed guard but Lalla is proving a slippery customer.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Gracie is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lalla defends well. Lalla trying to control the position from guard on top but Gracie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lalla has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Gracie is trying to keep Lalla in close.

That's six minutes gone in the round. Gracie looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Gracie tries to land a sweep but no joy. Gracie is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Lalla has his hands clasped together but Gracie extends and breaks Lalla's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Gracie.
