Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jerry Young (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Big Wood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Young comes to the cage accompanied by cradle de Mudvayne. Wood has chosen You Don't Know Me as his entrance music. Big Wood is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jerry Young!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Big Wood!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Young looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Wood shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Young counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Wood keeping moving, preventing Young from controlling successfully.
Wood is looking to stand up but Young isn't so interested in that idea.
Young tries to free his leg and advance position but Wood is retaining full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wood looking for a guillotine here but Young defends easily.

Wood is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Wood tries to pull guard but Young won't allow it.
Wood has Young pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Young manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Jerry Young has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Big Wood.

Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Wood tries for a takedown but Young manages to get underhooks.
Young has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Wood is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Wood tightens his grip and picks Young up, before dumping him to the ground. Young manages to land in guard.

Wood looks gassed!
Wood pushes down on Young's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Young flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Young gets back to full guard.
Young wants to sweep but no luck.
Wood wants to control from the top but Young keeps moving.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Wood's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Wood stands and steps away. Young gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Wood shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Young but Young pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Young avoids the body shot from Wood.

Young gets the takedown into side control.
Wood gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Wood is trying to stand.
Wood is working to get back to half guard.
Young controlling the position easily from mount.
Wood tries to hold on but Young pushes him away.

Wood is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Young fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Young is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Wood has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Young looking to control but Wood is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Wood tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Wood wants to get back to his feet.
Young is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Wood can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Young controlling the pace for now.
Young wants to control the pace but Wood is squirming around nicely.
Wood wants to control but Young is having none of it.
Wood gets back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jerry Young dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Young shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wood tries to lock up and control but Young gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Young trying to control but Wood is having none of it.
Wood is looking to get to half guard.
Young can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Wood is looking to escape.
Wood is bucking up trying to escape but Young cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Young wants to control the pace but Wood is squirming around nicely.

Wood tries to hold on but Young postures up.

Wood wants to hold on but Young pushes him away.

Wood bucks up and throws Young to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!

Young tries to keep at a distance but Wood has taken the fight into the clinch.
Young prevents a takedown attempt there.

Young wants the takedown. Wood is fighting it off but Young persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Wood's guard against the cage.
Young looking to sit in guard and control but Wood gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Wood trying to control but Young is working from the bottom.
Young trying to keep a closed guard but Wood is proving a slippery customer.
Wood slips nicely into half guard.

Wood stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Young to get to his feet.
Wood keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Wood closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Young to the mat! Young manages to get full guard.
Young looking to control.
Young can't keep his opponent in guard - Wood advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Jerry Young overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Wood is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Young is just riding it out for now. Wood eventually gives up the hold.
Wood stops Young from getting back to his feet.
Young is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Wood working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Young wants to get back to full guard.
Wood trying to control the action but Young is working from the bottom.

Wood decides to return to a standing position.
Young with a lazy takedown attempt
and Wood cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Big Wood seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Young drives through with a takedown into guard.
Young trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Wood keeping moving, preventing Young from controlling successfully.

Wood is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Young defends well.

Wood working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Young doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Young manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Big Wood will probably get the nod - 10:9.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Young trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Wood decides to stand and escape the position.
Young shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Wood counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Young tries to pull guard but Wood holds him up against the cage and eventually Young drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jerry Young. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Wood manages to break the clinch.

Wood decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Young tries to kick Wood off but Wood keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Young is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Young is working hard here to advance position.

Wood stands up and beckons Young to join him on the feet.

Young fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Wood sprawls well initially but Young persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Young seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Wood has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Young is working away from the top position though.
Wood avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Young.

Wood kicks Young off and gets back to his feet.

so Wood counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Wood scoring with some ground and pound.
Young wants to stand but Wood is controlling the position.
Young will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Young utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Young controls Wood momentarily but Wood frees himself.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Wood scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Wood working away.
Young tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Wood wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Young is trying to control Wood's posture but Wood avoids it.
Young is looking to regain half guard here but Wood keeps moving and retains side control.

Big Wood comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Wood has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
